A: Sisterhood, an itinerent kid preacher, a guy named Blaubart (a sensitive take on Bluebeard), a retirement home for ex-wives, a haunted labyrinth at the center of a mansion. Glass sculptures. Southern tradition and society. The woods. Fitting in. Running away. Setting fires.
What’s the genre?
A: I’ll go with Southern gothic fabulist absurdist. Like almost all of my stuff, this book is weird and whimsical and isn’t plot-oriented.
