I'm here to tell you about my debut novel, The Ghosts of Blaubart Mansion, set for release on April 21 of this year.

I’m calling it a fabulist Southern gothic style book, as I explain in this interview with the fabulous Christi Nogle:

The book is about two sisters, Ruby and Opal, who grow up isolated in the woods (with their only friend Phew, an itinerant kid preacher) until they have to take action because they can’t afford medical care for their mother. Ruby finds out that a rich man from a locally famous family is holding “wife auditions,” and she wins. Opal misses her and tags along, becoming a maid in the mansion. The sisters learn disturbing facts about the family’s hidden legacy and meet some ghosts along the way, and they find out if they have what it takes to fight that legacy. There are many fun digressions and details along the way. The story was mainly inspired by the fairy tales “Bluebeard” and “Snow-White and Rose-Red.”
